The "coat" rack is really more appropriate for clothing items such as hoodies, scarfs, or smaller sized over-shirts/sweaters/cardigans. It isn't quite big enough for actual coats, jackets and especially purses. It would be more functional if it were longer, and the pegs were spaced further apart. Again, for small items, it works just perfectly. I am considering buying a second one to install right next to it so I can actually use it as I intended. -AmandaUPDATE: 05/28/2012I did finally purchase a second rack, and revised my use for them. Instead of hanging them horizontally, I have installed them vertically. I put one about eight inches above the other one, and am using them to hang my handbags. They sort of sit on top of each other, two side-by-side. I don't see a way to insert a pic or I would. It is AWESOME for this purpose. If you have a section of your wall about 18 inches wide and six foot tall, two of these racks do the trick to hold over a dozen handbags. Happy I tried this, because now it is quite useful.

Liked this product so much, I bought three of them. My hats no longer sit on the top shelf of my closet, they're within easy reach and the rack fits all my favorites! The other two I installed for my kid's backpacks and hats. It works great for them too.

This product is beautiful and built like a rock, but it's a bit too small to be useful. All the pegs are so close together that everything looks kind of messy, even when I'm just putting hats on it.

I have purchased this brand and model of clothes drying rack before and it is far superior to the wood drying racks ....
